Graphic standards manuals of the past are obsolete, and rarely addressed brand-building background. Web-based brand management sites for intranets and global portals invite staff, suppliers and affiliates to support a brand. Typical modules include: brand background, brand identity design policy, downloadable logos and templates, along with an art specifications archive.

No one knew where the owl symbol came from, but it was a good brand identity, strongly associated by stakeholders and constituency with the organization. There were no standards for typography with the symbol, other than a reference to font family, or standardized design applications including word processing templates. ConeHouse came to the rescue.

Vancity says, "Now our brand identity expresses the values found in The Vancity Story. This site helps us to align our look and feel with the way we work."
